About: Yiwen, My Journey

Life is a journey. Where shall we begin?

A Chinese Family & Qi Gong

I was born in a traditional Chinese family, where my parents introduced me to Taoist principles from a young age. The concept of “Wu Wei” (Non-action) 無為 has been an essential guide throughout my life. As part of the morning routine, I practiced Qi Gong in the park with Sifu. Since then, Qi Gong has been my lifelong journey—carrying me from East to West, from childhood to adulthood.

Doctor (Ph.D. in Science)

I came to Amsterdam to studied Multimedia & Culture at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2004; then joined the research project team at Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. I completed the Doctoral degree Ph.D. in Computer Science at Eindhoven University of Technology in 2011. The long-term scientific training shaped my disciplined and inquisitive nature, fostering a mindset of continuous exploration.

Langmusi, Tibetan Plateau

A Year of Nomadic Travel

In 2012-2013, I traveled through China and Tibet with my partner, Dr. Anton, and our newborn baby. Like nomads, we began the wild mobile life, and experienced the sky burial ritual and meditation with the locals in the monasteries and villages in Tibet. It deepened my childhood understanding of “Wu Wei” (Non-action) and gave me a new perspective on life, minimalism and happiness.

Over A Decade of Teaching Yoga

Back in Amsterdam, I left research work behind and deepened my daily yoga and meditation practice. I have completed a series of yoga teacher trainings: Family Kids Yoga (Rainbow Yoga, London, 2014); Vinyasa Yoga (Svaha Yoga, Amsterdam, 2015-2016); Iyengar Yoga (Iyengar Yoga Amsterdam, 2017-2018); Advanced Hatha Yoga (Mysore, India, 2018); Sanskrit and Self-enquiry Meditation (Ashram Sri Ramana Maharshi, India, 2018), Yin Yoga (Yoga Garden, Amsterdam, 2019), Yin Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine (Yinspiration, Brussel, 2019); Myofascial Release (Yinspiration, 2020), etc.
I began teaching yoga at Svaha Yoga Amsterdam since 2016 and have been teaching at various yoga studios, gyms, and festivals for over 10 years.

Zandvoort Beach, the Netherlands

Acupuncturist / TCM Practitioner

I began my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the summer school of Shanghai TCM University, China. I then continued my education under the mentorship of Jo Phee (TCM and Yin Yoga) and Mimi Kuo-Deemer (TCM and Qi Gong). Later, I studied Western Medicine foundations and two different majors in TCM, Acupuncture 针灸 and Tui Na Massage 推拿 in a five-year curriculum at Shenzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Netherlands with the Dutch SNRO accreditation. I graduated Cum Laude in both majors, and was honored with the “Excellent Graduate Award.”

Besides my studies, I completed extensive internships and assistant work at clinics in the Netherlands, as well as additional internships at a public health center and local TCM hospital in Shanghai, China (2024-2025). As continuing education, I trained with Italian Professor Umberto Mazzanti in his ‘OsterAcu’ method, learning to combine acupuncture and osteopathic techniques for musculoskeletal pain. I also trained with Dr. Gil Ton (PhD) in Master Tung’s advanced acupuncture method.

I am a licensed acupuncturist, a member of Dutch Acupuncture Association – NVA (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Acupunctuur), KAB (Organisation for Alternative Treatment Methods), and ETCAM (European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association).

With expertise and compassion, I offer a unique hybrid of Acupuncture, Tui Na, Herbs, Yoga, Qi Gong, Breathwork and Mediation to the general public. Additionally, I provide affordable care and community support for minority groups in Amsterdam.
